How do I become an actor and/or singer?

Question: I was just wondering how I can become an actor and a singer. I want to be on TV and do not want to go to college because I want to start my career fast. I live in the midwest and please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Answer: Unfortunately for you, many great actors got their start in College drama classes or journalism classes. Going to college gives you a network of people to interact with. Plus, as you’ll learn after you get out of college, having attended a great college known for turning out actors can open doors to you that other actors or actresses do not have access to.

As for singing, you should be getting lessons. You should also be entering as many talent shows and singing contest as you can. Practice makes perfect. It will also help to have some experience under your belt. You can’t go into either of these fields without some experience. There are very few “natural born” actors or actresses.

College will give you experience in both fields. You also may discover that you prefer on field over another.
